Self-Guided Multi-sport Tour around Bled, 8 days

Day 1: ARRIVAL IN PODKOREN.Hotel 3*.
Meeting with the representative of the Helia travel agency.
Main attractions: alpine village of Kranjska Gora with beautiful scenery of Western Julian Alps. Known from winter sports – World Cup slaloms are held here every January.
Day 2: HIKING: PODKOREN – THREE COUNTRIES POINT – PODKOREN: 13 km round trip
Forest and mountain meadow trails, ascent of 640 m. Accommodation in a hotel 3*.
This warm-up walk takes you to the summit of Mt. Peč (1508m) at the triple border point of Slovenia, Italy and Austria. At the top you can enjoy the dramatic views across the Julian and Carnian Alps, with Hohe Tauern, the highest alpine range in Austria. The trail then descends through the valley to the source of the mighty Sava River, the longest in Slovenia, and back to Podkoren via Kranjska Gora ski resort.
Day 3: CYCLING: KRANJSKA GORA – BLED: 40 km.
A nice downhill bike ride with one pass of 150 m/500 ft. Accommodation in a 4* hotel.
The route takes you alongside the Sava Dolinka River as it cuts its way south to join the Sava Bohinjka, where it becomes the Sava River. From Mojstrana you will head into the Krma Valley. This lush green valley leads through a peaceful forest littered with WW2 monuments and traditional farmhouses. From here you will head through the Radovna Valley between the Pokljuka and Mežakla plateaus. As you exit the valley, take a short detour to the stunning 1.6km Vintgar Gorge, carved 150 m deep into the mountains by the Radovna River.
You will end your day in Bled.
Day 4: CYCLING AT LAKE BLED (35 km). (hotel 4*).
Days’ biking tour goes alongside Jelovica high-plateau and Sava River, easy, some undemanding hills. Old smithies’ village of Kropa with a museum, bee-keeping museum in Radovljica. Take your lunch in an old fashioned restaurant next to the castle in Radovljica.
Day 5: RAFTING: LAKE BLED: 8 km
3 hour rafting trip on the Sava Dolinka river (grade 2-3). This trip is suitable for all, no extra experience or equipment is needed. A free afternoon in Bled. Accommodation in a 4* hotel.
Day 6: HIKING: (vehicle transfer) POKLJUKA – USKOVNICA SADLE – VOJE – LAKE BOHINJ: 12 km. Mountain meadows & tree lined walk, ascent 200m. Accommodation in a 4* hotel.
Vehicle transfer to the Pokljuka Plateau where you begin your hike across mountain pastures and old farmhouses. As you descend you can stop at the little historic village of Studor to visit a museum and see how people lived 150 years ago. Your final destination is Lake Bohinj, the jewel in the heart of the Triglav National Park, and the small settlement of Ribčev Laz (Fisherman’s Pass).
Day 7: KAYAKING OR CANOEING ON BOHINJ LAKE
A day for rest or an easy kayak trip on Lake Bohinj (in the summer months one can swim in its’ crystal clear waters) (hotel 4*). Main attractions: Spend a lazy afternoon on one of hidden beaches of this tranquil place.
Day 8: End of tour after breakfast.
Price: 690 € per person, suplement for high season 35 € (18.8.-21.9.)
Included in the price: hotel accommodation in 3* / 4*, double rooms with WC and shower, based on bed & breakfast, two full days bike hire, half a day white water rafting tour in Bled, half a day kayak rental in Bohinj, luggage transfer (one piece per person), information package in English including detailed route description, personal welcome meeting and bike handover upon arrival.
Supplements: Single room 130 €, half board 125 €. Additional hire of classic trekking bike hire 15 EUR per day. Supplement for electric bike 25 EUR per day per bike.
